News / 23 High Petergate, Guy Fawkes Inn and Masonic Hall Yard, York

We’re delighted to announce that Planning and Listed Building Consent has been secured by JEH Planning and Native on behalf of the owners, HRH Hotels Group, for work at the Grade 1 Listed Building at 23 High Petergate, York.

This exciting project, located in the historic facing the great west end of York Minster, also includes work to combine with two adjoining Listed properties, Grade II* Guy Fawkes Inn and the Grade II Masonic Hall Yard and cottage at the rear in Duncombe Place. Together, these historic buildings will create an unusual assemblage of elegant hospitality accommodation.

Work at 23 High Petergate consists of adapting the now disused Grade 1 listed building, built originally as an C18 upper middle-class house and most recently functioning as offices, into 14 new hotel bedrooms that will become part of the adjoining Grade II*/Grade II Guy Fawkes Inn and Yard.

Work at Guy Fawkes Inn consists of adapting two ground floor hotel rooms into additional upgraded and accessible toilet facilities that will serve the Inn and the proposed converted Masonic Hall Yard.  The proposed works provide circulation and access routes between the Inn and Yard.

Work at the Masonic Hall Yard consists of adapting the disused Yard into a landscaped sitting out area that will connect and function as part of Guy Fawkes Inn.

This exciting project provides an opportunity to restore and re-purpose disused buildings and spaces in the heart of York’s historic centre, as well as providing new facilities for York and it’s visitors.

Native Architects look forward to updating you on this exciting project.
