Native’s design for a modern extension to a Victorian shophouse on Gillygate has been granted Planning Permission!
The scheme which includes an internal reconfiguration of the living spaces on the first floor proposes a contemporary extension to the rear floating above the garden below. The zinc element is an extrusion of the Victorian outshut on the rear of the property with a slender brick wing cantilevered alongside. The zinc colour references the slate on the roofs and the new brickwork designed to copy the existing structure.
As the scheme will be on full view to anyone walking along the city walls, this is an opportunity for Native to contribute to the eclectic variety on show to the public on Gillygate, uplifting the quality of experience along one of York’s most historic routes.
