Native Architects is delighted to announce an exclusive hands-on Hempcrete Workshop taking place on Tuesday 17th June at our York studio, as part of the Yorkshire Sustainability Festival fringe programme.
Designed for anyone with an interest in sustainable construction, this practical, small-group workshop will introduce participants to the benefits of hempcrete—a breathable, insulating, and low-carbon alternative to traditional building materials.
Led by Bob Bloore, of Hempshed, the session will explore how hempcrete can be used effectively in both new builds and retrofit projects.
Through guided demonstrations and expert insights, attendees will gain valuable hands-on experience working with this bio-composite material made from hemp hurds and lime.
“We’re passionate about materials that support low-carbon design and healthier buildings,” says Sally Walker, Director at Native Architects. “This workshop is a fantastic opportunity to experience hempcrete in action, and to understand its potential as a sustainable, future-ready material.”
There will be two sessions available on the day – 10:30–12:30 and 14:30–16:30 – each strictly limited to just 10 participants to ensure a personal and interactive experience.
