News / Work in Progress: Selby Mining Memorial

Native Architects are pleased to announce that we have applied for planning permission on behalf of Selby Town Council to erect a fitting memorial to the all the miners who worked in the Selby Coalfield from the mid to late 20th Century.

The memorial, which will be proudly situated in the Selby Community Woodland will be made using half of an original winding wheel painted in the traditional colours of red and black, mounted on a red/orange brick plinth.  The top of the plinth and the surrounding paving will be finished with sandstone slabs.

Photos show the original winding wheel and a 3D visual we produced.

Native Architects look forward to bringing you more news about the project as it progresses.
