Project The Lime House, York
This large straw bale house in Whenby was completed in 2018, and featured in the Yorkshire Post as one of the biggest and best straw bale homes in Yorkshire. It was a replacement for a 1960’s bungalow.
The initial stages included building up the barn allowing for secure storage for the rest of the bales during the winter. The clients also benefitted from the running of straw bale building courses on the site through the Straw Works team, and this gave them confidence to tackle the house construction as a self build project. Native guided the project through planning and building regulations and provided support throughout the construction process. The house provides a calm and healthy environment for the owners at minimal environmental cost.
