Project Husthwaite Village Hall, York

Native supported the Village Hall trustees in their successful BIG Lottery bid to build a new village hall on the site of the existing. The Lottery required the Trustees to consult extensively with the community about all aspects of the new building.

Taking the project from inception through to completion, Native helped develop the project brief through extensive engagement with the client team.

Working collaboratively with the Trustees, professional consultant team and Contractor, Native delivered the project whilst navigating difficult site conditions on a tight budget with strict funding deadlines.

The building is a timber frame structure finished with a palette of locally sourced, low carbon, natural materials. Designed to be well insulated, naturally ventilated with high levels of natural daylight with the aim to reduce the Trustees dependency on fossil fuels.

The result is a fully accessible, flexible village community centre available to a full range of users.
