We have always been guided by the strong values we hold on environmental sustainability. We are technically accomplished but our approach is humane, as we draw much of the inspiration for our designs from the people we work with and collaboration with clients and like-minded consultants shapes every project.
We will help you through discussions and meetings and guide you through the process of working with us to create your home, office, leisure, cultural or community space using imaginative and innovative thinking. We will listen to what you want and give you what you need!
The practice has delivered a range of buildings producing architecture that is rich in character and distinct in identity. We are inspired by local distinctiveness, particularly natural qualities that are instinctive and unpretentious. “Native in every sense”
Native begin the design process by analysing the client’s brief through discussion and consultation, followed by a thorough review of the site location, local precedents and the use of building materials.
Concepts for building forms emerge initially through a consideration of the site context whether open and rural, or constrained in a sensitive or developed environment, and of course the building function.
Designs emerge from a clear concept built on an understanding of the client requirements and the site.
Relevant historic or vernacular details and forms will also influence the design of the building, particularly where those features will affect the setting of a Listed building or in a Conservation Area.
Our ambition is to work with our clients in face to face meetings to arrive at a solution that is underpinned by our vigorous research and knowledge, through our own sketch studies and site analysis.
We value the qualities of traditionally crafted buildings and our work has been described by one client (Janette Ray) as “a re-invented pared – down arts and crafts approach”
